What is Search Engine?
A search engine is a service that helps users find the addresses of the various pages by keywords, phrases or commands listed in the search. Search engines use special programs called spiders or sökspindlar to search the web to gather information and links on the address they’ve visited. The spiders then follow the links to other pages, which in turn provide new information and additional links, etc. The information stored in databases which are then used by the search engine to compile the most relevant search results possible. This process is called indexing of web pages. When the user performs a search as this takes place in this index.
The difference between the different search engines are mainly in the algorithm for the presentation of search results. Some search engines such as Google sees linking as one of the important factors, such as while AltaVista to see more content on the pages. The reason that there are search engines is that it would take too long to implement a direct increase among all sites and that today is a too large volume to make a catalog.
