Site owners and marketers can make better informed decisions about their sites and campaigns using data from Google Analytics reports. Google Analytics collects information about traffic to your site and your advertising campaigns. This, combined with e-commerce and information about the conversions will give insight into the results of your marketing and your website performance.
How do I sign up and install Google Analytics?
Anyone can easily register. After you’ve signed up for a Google Analytics account, the most important part of the installation – the conversion tracking code snippet. Each Analytics user is provided with a unique JavaScript code to insert immediately before the closing tag “/ body” of each page.
It is important that you insert the code on all pages on your site. Unless Analytics will not be able to give you the whole picture of what is happening.
If you’re not ready to install the code now, you can always pull up this code later. Depending on the size of your site and the number of pages you want to track you might want to discuss the installation with your webmaster, if you have one.
How do I see my reports?
After you have registered you will be taken to the settings page in Analytics. Status box on the right of this page shows whether your code is installed correctly. However, it is important to know that it can take anywhere from a few hours to one day after the code is installed before your computer starts to be collected and reports are beginning to show details.
We hope you’ll try Google Analytics to gain more control over how your site is used and where your visitors come from.
